No shirt folding tips

Yet another travel blog? Yeah, I guess so. But relax. I won’t bother you with the bazillionth tip on how to fold or roll your shirts. Nor is it my intention to tell you how to travel the world for a dime and a half because you may be a thrifty little fella. In my (not very humble) opinion, traveling on a tight budget can be interesting, maybe once or twice, for a week or two. It can be a challenge. Well, it definitively is. But should traveling be challenging? It should force you out of your comfort zone but you shouldn’t waste your time on scratching out as much as possible on every penny. You shouldn’t get out of a bad situation and propel yourself into a worse one just because you prefer to stay with the one star rated shady Airbnb host for 20 Euros over a decent 2 stars hotel for 30 Dollars. If you ever had have the experience of an Airbnb with a private bathroom and found your naked host cracking the bowl in the very same, you know what I mean. And yes, such things happen.

So what is this blog about? It’s about seeing and experiencing other countries, places, people and cultures without having 200 payed days off a year and a six figures budget to spend. It’s about seeing as much as possible in a short time without wasting time or money on the one hand and without hurrying and rushing from one attraction to the next one on the other hand.

If you can choose between making one step or making five at once, take the Concorde. – Old European wisdom from the mediaeval times

For me personally it’s kinda boring to spend a whole week in one city or even months in one and the same country. Please don’t get me wrong, I know that even small countries have enough history and culture to discover to spend years and fill lifetimes. And if you’re passionate about and totally into a certain region, invest yourself and go for it. But if you’re not and you just wanna see as much as possible in your short life, plan wisely, see what you came to see for and move on. I’ve met quite a few fellow travelers (when did it become so unpopular to be a common tourist?) who think similar. People who try to squeeze as much highlights as possible into their limited vacations. That’s why I am doing this blog now. And since you’re here, maybe you think similar.

Expect everything and nothing

So what to expect, you ask? We’ve already crossed out tips about packing your shirts, so how about some hints for nice places to see? Or quick itineraries? I will also share my experiences with equipment, hotels and other services. We’ll see.

To conclude this “about” section: My name is Darius, I am roughly 30 countries old and as you’ve certainly already realized due to my imperfect English, I am from Germany. My decision to write in English is based on the fact that it’s probably the most suitable language to write about traveling. It’s the language we’re using when we’re abroad and it won’t hurt if I get some more practice.

I hope you will find some useful information or tips or just enjoy reading. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, hints or just wanna rant about how great it is to travel for 15 pennies.

Enjoy.
